I’m all about Typography, even in my web build out - I even create a seperate CSS file to handle just how the type will render out. One thing that I love about the advent of CSS is how much control we are getting over the way that we, as web builders, are able to style and control our text. My schooling background was almost 90% print, and I try to bring the same thinking in regards to my layouts on web sites that I design. Grid systems, clear hierarchy, and readability are big points with me.

Thoughtfully structuring and styling your page’s type can create a very strong sense of readability on a web page that typically doesn’t exist on normal sites. Giving your content the correct line spacing, sizing, and appropriate body face will give your visitors less of an excuse to run away once the land.

Here is a good article that explains a bit more in detail what I’m talking about.

After reading a couple of posts over on Typophile, I found a good article on the Underware typeface Dolly.

The article makes several strong points on the over-used idea that printed body copy needs to be thin and overly elegant. The article is rather promotional, but I think that it opens up discussion on the idea of a new old-style in the world of print.
