5THIRTYONE recently investigated the buzz surrounding the new project management solution, Goplan. The solution mirrors many features and functionalities of Basecamp at a lower monthly cost. Goplan allows a project manager to customize the client interface by enabling and disabling its features. This is the most compelling advantage of this solution because it allows the user to meet the specific needs of a client and provide a cleaner, less top-heavy interface.
The article does not discuss Goplan’s time tracking method. Basecamp provides manual time tracking and allows our team to add time tracking notes. The ability to add notes is integral for internal documentation, client communication, and staying within budget.
Based on the screenshots, I like the look of Goplan better than Basecamp, however, Goplan does not allow you to edit a custom color scheme. In conclusion, it appears that Goplan is a viable alternative to Basecamp. We just may have to check it out for ourselves!
In the process of design, choosing colors can be difficult. Before you drive the color scheme guy crazy, check out colorblender.com. The site makes the job of picking colors a little easier. The concept is quite simple. It only consists of dragging RGB levels left to right. So for anyone who has problems choosing paint, or a scheme for your website or magazine, colorblender.com just might be the way for you.
Enjoy!!!

In an article written to educate designers, Hydra Studio is cited for excellent use of hierarchy. “Chic Design” exemplifies our work as an example of how to visually guide consumers through a web page. “The site has a deliberate and well thought out hierarchy making the site easy to skim and far less confusing” (Designmeltdown.com). Check back for more features in the weeks to come!
Hydra Studio is on the move! We are aggressively expanding to meet the ever-increasing demand for our services. “Its an exciting time to be a part of the Hydra team right now!” says Bobby Jones, “We’ve had an incredible ‘06 so far and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon.” With all the project work its been unbelievably challenging to find time to redesign our own brand and website. The whole team got behind it and worked around the clock to make it happen. We hope you find it inspiring and come back often. Read More »
