5THIRTYONE recently investigated the buzz surrounding the new project management solution, Goplan. The solution mirrors many features and functionalities of Basecamp at a lower monthly cost. Goplan allows a project manager to customize the client interface by enabling and disabling its features. This is the most compelling advantage of this solution because it allows the user to meet the specific needs of a client and provide a cleaner, less top-heavy interface.
The article does not discuss Goplan’s time tracking method. Basecamp provides manual time tracking and allows our team to add time tracking notes. The ability to add notes is integral for internal documentation, client communication, and staying within budget.
Based on the screenshots, I like the look of Goplan better than Basecamp, however, Goplan does not allow you to edit a custom color scheme. In conclusion, it appears that Goplan is a viable alternative to Basecamp. We just may have to check it out for ourselves!
