Lately I have been trying to pin down exactly why I feel a little uneasy about XHTML and I am beginning to think the reason has more to do with its’ perceived purpose rather than a deep criticism of the language itself. XHTML has always felt like a puppy, blind in one eye, trying to run uphill with uneven appendages. It’s awkward, it’s clumsy, and even though it will get to where it needs to be, the trip is hardly ever graceful.
The Hydra team has been getting recognition around the Web on sites like CSS Vault, CSS Mania, Light on Dark, CSS Bloom, CSS Drive, CSS Galleries–Gold. We’re often inspired by these sites ourselves and are thankful to be giving back.
The third Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco featured the biggest names in technology including Google CEO Eric Shmidt and Ross Levinsohn, CEO of Fox Interactive. One topic up for discussion was with the tens of millions of people hanging out online at MySpace, Bebo, Facebook, Windows Live Spaces and scores of niche social networking sites how do you find your “friends” when they are scattered across multiple online communities.

Hydrastudio.com is making waves with its “excellent use of two-tone design”. Our site has been featured as one of “The 35 Sexiest Designed Websites” by Phil Renaud. The feature has been posted on numerous websites, including Digg with over 1,937 people digging it in just 16 days! This latest biannual 35-sexiest list includes 23 CSS-based sites and 12 Flash-based designs just in time for the upcoming CSS/Standards Reboots.
